We believe a designer's masterpiece deserves protection as considered as the craftsmanship itself: waterproof TPU fabric instead of flimsy plastic, a brass snap instead of a strip of cheap velcro, a silhouette that reveals your bag's shape instead of hiding it under a bin liner. No compromise between protection and pride — because you should never have to choose between them.
Rain is rarely just water.
Leather is unforgiving. Moisture, oil, and road grime can all leave marks that never fully disappear — the same way spilled wine or a careless dab of hand cream can ruin a beautiful hide in seconds. A single rainy walk brings four of these dangers to your bag at once, usually invisibly, until the damage is already done.

Leather is porous. It drinks in water, swells, then hardens as it dries — leaving stiffness, cracking, and water rings that can set in for good.
Oil & Road Film
Rain splashing up from the street carries a fine film of oil and exhaust grime. It sinks into the leather's pores and leaves dark stains no cleaning fully lifts.
Road Salt
In winter, de-icing salt dissolves into slush and wicks into the leather as a pale, near-permanent tide-line — attacking colour and structure alike.
Metal Corrosion
Moisture tarnishes and pits buckles, rivets, and zippers — often the very first sign of age on an otherwise flawless bag.

Cheap PVC ponchos yellow, stiffen, and crack within a season. TPU stays flexible in the cold, resists tearing, and won't leave that plastic-sheet film against your leather — the same reason premium phone cases and marine gear reach for it instead of PVC.

A cover this quiet to wear takes more thought than it looks like. Every part of von GRAUE was refined the way a collector refines her own wardrobe — with experience, patience, and an eye for what actually holds up.
We could have used fully transparent PVC — most cheap covers do. We chose a softer, milk-frosted TPU instead: clear enough to let your bag's colour and shape read through, opaque enough to read as an accessory in its own right, not a plastic bag pulled over your handbag. And the water-repellency runs both ways — even if your bag went in still slightly damp from an earlier shower, the inner surface won't let that moisture wick back onto the leather. Flexible in the cold, quietly stylish, and doing its job in both directions.
